Alternator Problem I Think?

I've got a 77 Ford with 302. Alternator Charges with the truck running. My Question is: Can the Alternator drain the battery when the engine is not running? There is a wire running from the alternator to the solenoid. I am pretty sure its the wire that charges the battery. It seems to pull a load on the battery when the truck is off.

Yes. A bad diode in an alternator can drain a battery.

Corey,
More than likely, the voltage regulator causes the drain.
This is a problem I've seen from time to time.

Thanks, I'll take it by my local alternator shop today to get checked out.
