Having charging problem. `94 F-150 5.8L 140 amp alternator. The battery keeps
draining and will not charge back up. Any info on fixing problem.

Get the truck started, and take a voltage reading at the battery. Report back with the reading.

Alternator has a bad diode stack and the regulator may be bad at the same time.
Fix it right or it will just hound you.
Test for drain. If you see it, unhook the alternator charge lead. If it goes away, it's alternator time.

Took the positive off and the truck died. Took it off and went to local alternator repair shop and tested it. There is a couple of diodes that were bad so having it rebuilt. It was only putting out 10.3

Just trying to get the message out. Taking the battery cable off with the engine running can be a bad idea. The battery holds the voltage down if the alternator is in a failure mode were it is running out of control.
