So my dipstick tube rusted in half just above the exhaust manifold. The service manual says you need to remove the drivers side exhaust manifold to get the new tube in. I've done some searching and can't seem to find a definite answer one way or another. Anyone done this job on a 2v v10? Did the manifold have to come off or was there room to squeeze it in there?
Nut of the back of the head? I thought there was just the one nut above the manifold that supports the tube? You are talking above the engine oil tube and not the transmission right?
Sooner is better than later. Don't want crud getting into trans via a rust hole in fill tube.
Took me about 20 min to put a new tube on, note they don't come with o-rings. You would think a $15 OEM DS tube would come with a o-ring!
SORRY, i thought you were talking about trans tube.
Oil tube cannot be replaced without manifold removal to do it correctly. There is a 8 mm bolt that holds it in place. It's a tab that is too large to fit thru manifold. UNLESS YOU BEND IT to remove and bend new one to install.
