I ordered my truck without the marker lights, moonroof due to leak potential. I chased leaks on my 08 GMC 3500 for 8+ yrs, not fun. I also did the carpet delete, I hate cleaning and vacuuming carpets out with crusted old salt mixed in. Weather tech floor pans help 90% but there is still that 10%.
As I posted earlier, I didn"t want them, buddy of mine has em on his '16, said he researched em 9 ways from sunday, no leak issues, well mine leaked. Wish I"d gone with my instincts, and never ordered em. Taking truck back to dealer tomorrow for replacement lights, I tend to keep a truck for a long time, this will be a concern for me, for a long time. **** poor quality on a vehicle of this price. I come from 3 generations of Ford folks, cars, trucks, farm equipment, but these lights are terrible. I live in Florida, so torrential rains, moisture, can cause major problems.
Just a question and maybe it needs its own thread but has anyone installed clearance lights that did not have the option previously? In other words drilled the holes in the roof? If so what's the difficulty, spacing, etc?
I'm just extremely surprised that after having installed clearance lights on their trucks for decades that in 2017 this is even a topic of discussion.
As am I. Really thought with all improvements in technology, etc, Ford would have had this figured out. Took my truck back to dealer today, they replaced clearance lights with new lights, with the new gaskets. Appears to be same exact light fixture, with better gaskets. Hope this takes care of any future problems, but still unimpressed with the way the lights" base does not contour to the roof of truck. Again, if I had it to do over, would never have ordered this option. Dealer has been great with their handling of my problem, but I still am greatly disappointed with this design/problem.
The clearance ights leaked on my new 2017 F350 and drenched the inside of my vehicle including the wiring harness under the carpet. Took three days to dry it out with carpet fans. Took it to the dealer and it should be under warranty, but there is not a recall. The lights are loose and do not fit flush with the roof. If it happens again Ford will own this one.

that sucks. I see this your first post. Welcome to the forum. Lots of great info here. Hope you get your rig sorted out.
As much as I love the look of the clearance lights I think I will stay away from them until they come out with remote control battery powered lights that are held on with double sided sticky tape.
water Leaking from dome lights and sunglasses holder
Hey, I just bought a 2017 F-250 xlt four days ago, has the clearance lights. Truck has 120k miles, was a corporate vehicle up and down the highway. We had a storm this evening that dropped an inch of rain in around 20 minutes. This is the first rain I’ve driven in since I got the truck. We had a little bit of rain the other night, but it wasn’t a crazy storm and i wasn’t driving(Truck parked, no wind blowing rain into seals). I always drive through some small branches at least twice a day pulling in my driveway. Nothing large, but branches none the less. Well, like the top says, it leaked.
Im pretty sure the leak is coming from one of the clearance lights after reading all evening.I’m not sure if it still has original lights, or if they’ve been replaced.
I'm here basically asking what to do. Should I just take it to my local dealer And let them take care of it? Or should I go to my dealer and buy new lights and replace them myself. I have no idea if that’s where it’s even leaking, but I’m assuming it is.
I like the look of them but decided not to order them because of potential leak issues. It is sad that Ford can't make a roof light that doesn't leak
I like the look of them as well, and agree on the sad part. Had I of known about this I may half looked for one without the lights, although from what I’ve read they’re hard to find.
