The trucks are hard to find without the lights unless you order from the factory. I would rather not have them, but I also was not that hard over on it either.

I've mentioned this before, isn't there a Ford factory rep on this site that we could get these threads to regarding this poor fit issue?

I keep hoping one will take notice, and chime in. If I knew how to contact one, I would.

Numbers

According to Motor Trend through Jan 2017 the number of 2017 Superdutys sold was 80000. If we assume sales are going at a comparable rate somewhere in the another 80000 sold. 160000 give or take. A percentage have the cab lights you pick the number. I am good friends with my local Ford dealer service manager that sells a lot of Superduty here in our mountain area. They never had a leak issue ( in this area ). This is pretty confusing. Members here with leak issues 50 maybe. I am thinking this might be isolated production problems in particular with the early gasket ones. Anyway just thinking out loud.

Apparently there were enough trucks with this issue that Ford had come up with a better light fixture assembly as of 2-12-17. Had to be a lot of units with this problem for that to happen. Chaps my butt that I took mine in for repair 2 months after this tech bulletin came out, and my dealer just had my faulted, leaking lights resealed, instead of replacing them with new, improved units. Very disappointed with whole thing. I realize stuff happens, but come on, Ford. Not happy with dealership either.

So it was pouring out while at work today as I was reading this post. Sure enough I go out side to go home and my center counsel was very wet. I could find the spot at first but like many said it was leading by the sunglass holder. When I got the truck in March one buddy noticed one of my lights was popped up snout a half inch. So I pressed on it and it snapped in place. I was waiting for this

For those that think there truck may not be leaking. You may want to check the head liner. I bet mine had been the whole time. But it never possibly rained hard enough to get to a spot to notice.

Our storm today dropped and inch off rain in twenty minutes. That may be why it finally made it to a spot to drip

So I call me dealer and they say service will call me in the morning. They have s external company called water seal come and fix their issues! Not very reassuring. But now that I know about the tsb I'm going to mask them order the parts first. I'll let you know how it goes.

All dealers have 'leak fix' contractors, as mine contracted to reseal my leak. Had I known about the tech bulletin regarding these leaking clearance lights, and that replacement, improvement lights were available, I would have insisted on them, and am currently trying to get my dealer to order and install replacement lights. Will post how it goes. Again, TSB came out 2 months before I took mine in for repairs. BS.

Called my dealer today. I told him about the tsb. He was totally dismissive. Said he'd get his contractor in. Once they figured it out he'd have them fix it. Maybe I interpreted him incorrectly and what he meant could have been including the tsb lights. He didn't ask for the number, didn't say he'd research it. Nothing. I called these guys because it's where I bought the truck from. I've worked with a closer dealer before and they were awesome. Going to call them tomorrow.

Op named FormerGrunt posted it on another thread on this topic, on 7-9. As I posted earlier, TSB came out on 2-12, took truck to dealer on 4-17, they had contractor reseal existing lights. Called dealer last week, told them I wanted lights replaced with the improved ones, they called me today, said they are ordered, and will replace when they come in.

So are guys without the moon roof having problems with leaks as well or is just the moon roof crowd? I won't have a moon roof on my XLT so I'm wondering if they will be more flush on the roof. Also does anybody know if you can remove the orange cover and replace them with clear or do you have to replace the whole light? Thanks.

I have no moon roof. If I had to do over, I would never have ordered truck with clearance lights.

I'm trying to get the attention of Todd S. Ashton, he is the Quality Manager at Ford Motor Company - Kentucky Truck Plant - Ford Super Duty, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator. If I can get him to pay attention to issues identified on this forum I think it will do us all a great deal of good. Even if he just assigns one of his underlings to monitor the message board.
