Brake question

Can anybody tell me if front brake parts, drums, shoes etc, from a 1947 Mercury P/U, will fit a 1951 ford f1?
If so, which model P/u do I look for?
Local guy is advertising a deal, but no mention of model....so far.
I hope one of our experts can help me out.
Thanks for all replies...
Geoff.

On further investigation I'm told these brake drums and shoes
are for a 1947 Mercury half ton.
Will they fit a '51 F1?
Can anyone please tell me?
Thanks.....
Geoff.

The brake shoes might be the same, but the 1948/52 F1 front drum part number (8C-1125-A) reflects these trucks only.

My 1928/47 truck & 1928/48 Ford car parts catalog is missing a few pages, but I think that 1942/47 Commercial (1/2 ton truck) brake drum part number is part number 21C-1125

It my understanding that Ford and Mercury trucks were the same. The parts shud be the same for each model M1- F1 etc. Mercury trucks were Fords with a little lipstick.

True enough within a model year. The issue is 47 versus 51. As we know, there was a significant redesign of the half ton trucks in 48. From this thread, it isn't clear that the changes included the brake shoes.

I find no matches at all. Neither drums or shoes. There are even different grouping numbers for each era. The 40-47 front hub and drum begins as 21A 1105-A, then substituted by 51A 1105-A. Rear drums start as 01A 1115-A then are substituted by 21A 1115-A. These numbers are unchanged through the 1/55 OSI reference. I don't see a separate listing for front drums separate from the hub.

The 1948-1952s are contained in the 1125 (front) and 1126 (rear) groupings. My Green Bible reprint copy doesn't show the 1125 and 1126 groups. Stu

FortyNiner and truckdog62563,
Sorry for the delay...I just saw your replies!
Thanks for chiming in.....the plot thickens!
A visual/measuring inspection would be the only way to go,
but I don't have them here in front of me. I guess that somewhere in Canada
there would be someone that has some decent F1 front drums. I'll get some eventually.
Thanks for your help.
Geoff.

21A = part number prefix for 1942-48 Ford Passenger Cars.

I don't know if this drum is the same as truck, as my Green Bible is missing the first couple of pages of the brake section.

1948/52 F1 brake drum is 8C-1125-A

The description says passenger 40-48 and commercial 40-47 for both front and rear. Stu
