Parking lights will not go off. Pulled all fuses, reset computer, pulled light switch and unplugged. Only go off when I disconnect battery. Please, any advice appreciated
I have had the truck 2 years, bought used. No after market additions. There were no symptoms leading up to yesterday morning. Got in truck, started truck, turned lights on, drove to work, turned lights off, truck off, got out, lights(all of them, including parking, mirrors, roof) remained on. Only lights not on were headlights. I did not touch any fuses in body control module.
It could be a faulty Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) sending a faulty headlight switch status to the Body Control Module (BCM), a faulty BCM, or a fault in the wiring external to the BCM that shorts the lamp circuit to ALWAYS HOT vehicle power.
Several things that can be checked to narrow down the possibilities:
Do the lamps time out at 10 minutes or not (after you have turned off the ignition, exited the vehicle, and closed all doors)?
If not and while still in fault mode, one at a time, pull BCM fuses F30 (corner parking/license lamps) and F40 (roof and mirror lamps) and observe if the designated lamps only go out or if all lamps go out when only a single fuse is pulled. [emphasis added for critical conditions]
