Alarm to turn on puddle lamps?

I got an alarm put in and now my dome and puddle lamps do not turn on. When using the factory keyless fob, unlock doors and dome and puddle lamps turn on. The installer said it cannot be done? I was thinking the parklights and fogs turn on when alarm is dissarmed for 30 seconds. The alarm parklights wire is a (+). I found a wire in the back of the light dimmer switch that turns on the dome and puddle lamps when grounded (-). Can I go from the alarm (+) wire install a relay turn the (+) to a (-) fasten to the (-) dimmer switch? I'm trying to get park, fog, dome, puddle lights to turn on when alarm is dissarmed.

I dont know if this helps you or not but I'm adding puddle lamps to my truck and was going to tie in at the headlight switch and when I would touch the wire for the puddle lamps in with the dome light there the puddle lights would light and the dome would go out and come right back on when I disconnected the puddle lamps....

tomdoggie puddle lamps are the lights in the bottom of the outside mirrors that light with the dome light

Ok I did everything like I mentioned above and it works. I used the orange striped green wire at the dimmer it's (-). Now my new problem is when my park lights turn on my dome and puddles do aswell
Now I'm thinking I need to install some type of diode on the alarm wire. To stop the power flow back to the alarm where my splice is when park lights turn on. Anybody know what kind of diode I need? I do not know to much about the relay and diode thing. I'm also thinking this thread is in the wrong topic.

what kind of alarm is it? Normally they should have what's called a dome light supervision wire that you hook up to the dome light (at the dimmer switch) so the dome light (and puddle lamp thats tied to it) comes on when unlocking or goes off after locking with the alarm fob.

Yeah my alarm does not have a dome light supervision wire, would have made things alot easier. I went to the source bought a pack of 4, 6Amp diodes. I soldered 2 diodes together thinking it would make 12Amps as the alarm wire is 10amps. I then soldered the 2 diodes to the park lights alarm wire after my splice to the dimmer, going from the alarm module. So now when I turn on my park lights the diodes stop the power before my splice to the dimmer. It now works like I want it to, the question is for how long.
