Went out to my 4 month old '17 Lariat yesterday morning, grabbed the driver's door handle and - nothing. I tried it a few more times then fished the Intelligent Access Key out of my pocket and tried ALL the buttons. Nothing. Hmmm... I guess the batteries only lasted for 4 months although I never got the low battery warning in the info display like the owner's manual said I would.
Went and got my wife's IAK which worked fine, BUT her key has settings #2 registered to it and I assumed I'd have to reset the seats, mirrors etc. to #1. I didn't. Opening the door with her key changed nothing.
Now the strangeness. After starting the truck and not having either of us put on our seat belts yet there was NO audible or visual reminder to put on our belts. In addition, the HVAC system came on full blast set to A/C LO.
Over the next hour or two I locked, unlocked and started the truck several times using her key. Still no seat belt warning although the HVAC stayed the way I set it. When I got home I changed the batteries in my IAK and from that point on it worked perfectly. But now when I opened the door with my wife's key the seats, mirrors, steering wheel, pedals etc. move to totally bizarre locations. She had to reset everything to her liking and save the settings.
I realize that the current IAK is more sophisticated than previous models with the two way communication feature but previous FORD IAK's have had battery life measured in years not weeks.
life was a lot easier with a plain old key and fob. Just paid over $250.00 for a spare IAK to keep in the garage...cost me more than my tablet computer! Jeezus.

Lol...
I guess it`s safe to say that you don`t have an iPad or Galaxy S Tablet.
