Stuck 292 starter
When I went to start my 62 F100 292 a while back, the starter wasn't cranking correctly, and instead it would just produce an awful grinding sound. Long story short, I pulled all the bolts on the starter, but it won't come off the engine. I've pulled and pried and smacked it with a mallet till the cows came home but she still won't budge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like the bendix drive gear is jammed into the ring gear. Take off the inspection cover under the bellhousing and try to rotate the motor with a prybar on the ring gear to unlock it. Or turn the motor over with socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft balancer bolt. You may need a new ring gear if the teeth are damaged.
