Okay, got some more pictures of the truck yesterday as I was getting some of the mess out of the way so that I can get a tow truck up to it and bring it home. Got a couple of old bucket seat frames, original truck seat frame and the front and rear suspension from a MG on board.

Still can't get a straight answer on the year of the truck but am thinking more along the lines that this is a 48. The 59a motor is original, there appears to be the #s 1948 on the passenger side of the rear axle. The only vin# I've been able to locate is the one that was on the firewall tag, the plate on the glovebox just says its a M68. It has the small rear window and I've been told the 1950 version has a big window. Truck is coming home tomorrow and the final clean up of all the junk in the yard is on Friday and I'll know then what I have for parts.

As you can tell, this truck is in pretty tough shape.

Them leaves are going to have to go.

Perhaps i cant see well from the picture but if you have the smooth back it is a 1948. All other years have the creased back because they started in late 48. Just one of the things I've learned from being on this forum.

It has the smooth back wall pweng and Roy plus the small window. Unfortunately the owner of the truck has Alzheimers, but its the mother and daughter that appear to be whacked in the head as they change subject every 2nd sentence they speak. Heres the serial # from the only id plate I can see again if that helps.

Thanks for your help so far

Thanks Merv
At this point the only thing thats buggered up metal wise is the battery box base, everything else looks solid and no bondo worms. There is bondo on here but it was to cover dents so that should be easy to take out and redo. The frame and hoist have been painted a few years ago and there is only slight surface rust so that will get the WD40 wash and wiped down with oil. The axle has been off but I don't know if it was worked on. These 17" widow makers appear to be 1 piece rims as neither myself or the guy upstairs can find a seperation line on the rims, it does have a flat tire, woe be me LOL.
I need to put up my 10 x 20 shelter today and have to measure the height of the truck as there is a garage with 220 power, finished on the inside and has a fan being offered to me for $200 a month, I can see the garage in one of my cameras so it can be safetied. Tomorrow is yard clean up day at the place that I got the truck from so there should be more parts coming.

I don't know what the projects end run will be yet but there will be a new dually axle going under it and possibly a F350 srw twin I beam front end, 16" rims as I allready have 10 of them. The drive train will be modern carburated V8 with 5 speed, currently have 3 to choose from. The truck will either be a Model T speedster car hauler, occassional landscape truck or combo of both. Will be closer to making up my mind in 2 weeks.

Theres a Model T shell, Model A frame and a bunch of odd ball parts that come with this deal and thats the yard clean up part of the deal.

How do I find these deals you ask, I'm never in a hurry to buy and don't mind letting deals go as theres always another one coming up. Patience, patience, patience and be cheap, don't buy a part if you can get a whole vehicle for the same basic price.

Haven't done anything to the truck yet except to change the flat tire. I have some dud tires from a 78 f350 srw that are 8 bolt 16.5s, they're dry rotted but at least hold air and lo and behold the bolt patterns were the same as the 17s. Took some pictures of the front undercarriage while I was at it. The oil pan was wet but it almost looks like its been repaired. Will be looking for a 6 volt battery and would like to know what not to get or if theres a way of starting this with a 12 volt. It will get driven less than 500' into the garage once that deal is finalized and the garage is ready.

Once in the garage the motor starts going into this thing.

This was part of the truck deal and came with a Model A frame and MG front and rear suspension.

So, its time to move this truck this weekend. Just one problem, haven't found a 6 volt battery. Actually I've found 6 volt batteries but none of them were for an actual vehicle, have found them for golf carts and solar panels but nothing that even looks like an automotive battery. Went online to a place called battery world but the only auto batteries they show are 12 volt although they claim that they have 6 volt. Their online catalogue shows every kind of 6 volt imaginable but not for a real vehicle. Any body heard of battery world or will that be more of the "sorry, thats the battery we don't carry" goose chase.

You could try machinery batteries , they used 6 volt for much longer and some may still as they hook them in series to get 12volt output

I think that I came across one of those EBEAR, the one that I saw was a bit flatter than a regular 12 volt but about twice the body size. Couldn't think of how I'd get it in the truck as the battery tray is pretty small and the area it's in isn't all that big. I'll try this Battery World place and I've got a call out to my local chapter as a few of the posters have older trucks. Would really like to drive it the 500' that I need to go to get to the new place.
