Gear indicator Cable

I pulled the column on my 85 F250 apart to figure out why the gear indicator wasn't working and come to find out that the cable broke as well as the plastic housing it lives in. Anyone know where I can get a replacement besides the junk yard?

Thanks in advance.

EOTZ-7A110-B .. Transmission Control Indicator Assy / Available from Ford.

1980/86 F100/150 with C4/C5/C6 / 1980/86 F250/350 & Bronco with C6.

MSRP: $81.48 / autonationfordwhitebearlake.com (MN) online price: $53.78.

There was a Ford dealer in FL that gave FTE members a discount. I looked thru the list of sponsors, couldn't find the name.

But the dealer I listed (Auto Nation Ford-White Bear Lake MN) is the cheapest on the net, as they sell all their parts at dealer net cost +10%.

Dealer net cost on this puppy: $48.89.

Since the indicator is available from Ford, Carpenter is buying it (probably only when someone orders one) from a local dealer.

Carpenter's price: $99.95 .. MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price): $81.48. If you buy it from the dealer in MN: $53.78.

So Bill...Since I am in there replacing the indicator, I was going to fix the speedo cable. The thing is, the truck has A/T and cruise control. I want to delete the cruise control since it doesn't work, and I don't need it anyway, but am having a dickens of a time getting a straight answer on which cable to use without getting a couple and trying them. All I need is the cable that would go to an 85 4x4 A/T w/o cruise, but all the ones I see are listed for either manual or 4X2 some show for both A/T and manual. I don't want to do the upper and lower thought the cruise. Is the end that goes in tranny the same for both or just listed wrong? I haven't pulled it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is only one part number and I gave it to you in post #7: EOTZ-17260-D however...

The 2nd digit of the prefix was originally a zero, but most parts guys pronounced it as the letter O (owe), so Ford later changed it.

So, the cluck may be asking for E0TZ-17260-D - E ZERO TZ-17260-D

IMO: Call the dealer in AL and/or NC, they may be cheaper. Vintage Parts makes their living selling Ford/GM/Chrysler and etc. obsolete parts.

Since the part is obsolete, the Ford dealers are STUCK with it!

Not sure I love you guys or hate you...

Was reading this post on the couch..."honey this guy has a broken gear indicator too"

She replies.."how did they recommend fixing?"

"Buy a new one" I reply

It's at this point I know I'm done for......you see, based on the condition of the truck, the gear indicator is WWWAAAAY down the list on 'need to fix'. BUT for my wife it annoys the dickings out of her.....long story short, my play budget is consumed for the next couple of weeks, but I have a new gear indicator!

Bill got the cable today, but was wondering if it works with automatic tranny? In great shape, but I was curioous about that. Guess I'll find out when I go home later

Once again, ND (Bill) to the rescue !
It is the Service Parts Specialist's plight to be both loved and hated...all in the same day, numerous times. Damned if he does and, damned if he doesn't . It's no wonder why Bill uses the emoji as much as he does. It's warranted and I for one hope that nobody takes offense to it. I've walked a mile in those shoes for GM...and it was no more or no less pretty.
CharlesStuber85F150 should take note.
