I pulled the column on my 85 F250 apart to figure out why the gear indicator wasn't working and come to find out that the cable broke as well as the plastic housing it lives in. Anyone know where I can get a replacement besides the junk yard?

So Bill...Since I am in there replacing the indicator, I was going to fix the speedo cable. The thing is, the truck has A/T and cruise control. I want to delete the cruise control since it doesn't work, and I don't need it anyway, but am having a dickens of a time getting a straight answer on which cable to use without getting a couple and trying them. All I need is the cable that would go to an 85 4x4 A/T w/o cruise, but all the ones I see are listed for either manual or 4X2 some show for both A/T and manual. I don't want to do the upper and lower thought the cruise. Is the end that goes in tranny the same for both or just listed wrong? I haven't pulled it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Was reading this post on the couch..."honey this guy has a broken gear indicator too"
She replies.."how did they recommend fixing?"
"Buy a new one" I reply
It's at this point I know I'm done for......you see, based on the condition of the truck, the gear indicator is WWWAAAAY down the list on 'need to fix'. BUT for my wife it annoys the dickings out of her.....long story short, my play budget is consumed for the next couple of weeks, but I have a new gear indicator!

Once again, ND (Bill) to the rescue !
It is the Service Parts Specialist's plight to be both loved and hated...all in the same day, numerous times. Damned if he does and, damned if he doesn't . It's no wonder why Bill uses the emoji as much as he does. It's warranted and I for one hope that nobody takes offense to it. I've walked a mile in those shoes for GM...and it was no more or no less pretty.
CharlesStuber85F150 should take note.
