Trying to get some research and opinions on the 7.3L with 275k. Doesn't seem like a bad price. Would be a daily driver and only towing s 16' flatbed with a rzr1000once a month
The excursions with the 7.3 are expensive not like our trucks that can be found a dime a dozen dirt cheap. Considering mileage its a bit on the high side but like I say as long as the drivetrain is solid and maintaince records can be had that would be a 8-12K Ex around my area.
That's a nice looking EX. Almost looks like it's been repainted from the pic with the emblem. Depending on the condition of the EX, that's a hell of a good deal.
thats about the going rate in TX too. With that many miles I've seen them 10k-15k being as highly sought out as they are. I wouldn't be afraid of high miles on the 7.3. They're proven million mile engines. But, I'd be leary buying from a dealer not being able to meet the PO. Would want to know about all maintenance records, front end work etc. Good luck in your searching!
That would be a tad high here in Alabama, but some are selling for that even here. I sold my '03 EB 7.3 Excusion 2WD last August for almost $13,000, but it also only had 205K miles on it and was a 2WD. Mine was spotless and pristine inside with brand new front seat covers and the tires had low mileage. Oh... I also tossed in en EXTRA matching middle row bench seat as an alternative to having 4 captains chairs ($500 value).
I bought mine in San Antonio in November of 2014. I paid $12,350 for it and it had 140k on it. It was completely stock though. Seems like you could do much better. I'd keep looking.
Know it's a different rig, but I paid 20K for my 2000 F350 Lariat with upgrades and Clean with 138 K on the clock 2 years ago. In CA. Small auction buyer dealer in Northern CA would NOT budge a nickel. He knew what he had.
I figured it was OK.
Figured out the pedistal o ring leak and fixed, good deal with help from The Brad on GTR38 with almost new mileage and new stock wheel and bellowed up pipes. Runs like a top, as old guys say, and love it. Recent glow plugs and UVCH harnesses from Clay at Riffraff, and now very recent PHP Hydra. Good zoom and Happy guy.
Yes, Brads a great guy. Would of bought it myself if I'd known. I have to take a ride in his truck now. I think the way he went is the best way, just don't know on the smog guys. Turbo set up shouldn't make a difference. But Cali sucks.
You're going to overpay for a 7.3L pretty much anywhere. The engine's reputation adds plenty to the price. I bought mine 10 years ago and I know I overpaid for it. You have to decide if it's what you want and if it's worth it to you. What makes it worse for buying an Excursion is that they only built them for 6 years (99-05) with only half of them even having an option for a 7.3L.
Kelley Blue Book says my truck is worth about $6K but I still see them for sale around here for $20K. I'm sure it's worse for the X crowd.
Yep.. After about 6 years of owning my 7.3 Excursion and putting over 60K miles on it, I sold it for $600 more than I paid for it 6 years earlier (thanks to the 6.0 and 6.4 engine designs and the cost of the newer 6.7's).
