OD light flashing

Just got back from a 600 mile round trip to Florida, towing a 7000 pound camper with my completely stock, 03 7.3 PSD Ex. On the way down the off light on the gear selector started flashing. It would still allow me to turn the OD on and off. I kept driving for about another 40 miles then stopped to eat. When we got back in, it didn't flash anymore. I didn't know what it meant. The return trip was driven in hotter weather and at higher speeds with no flashing. Pulled like a dream. When I got home I read in the manual that if that light flashes, I am to have it serviced at once or damage could occur. It has less than 2000 miles on it. Any help out there?

Read my thread on flashing overdrive light on around page three and Help, transmission problems on page one. My 1997 F250 is doing the same thing but in addition to the light flashing I am having some transmission,torque converter, pump problems. They don't exactly seem to know what the exact problem is. I would suggest that you have it diagnosed to see what codes it throws. For a list of the codes and what they are you can go to freeautoadvise.com/diesel/pscodes. I'm under the understanding that the overdrive light blinking can be any related transmission problem: transmission,torque converter, fluid pump, etc. Good Luck and keep an eye out on my posts for further info.

OD light flashing

hey guys i just bought a 97 250 psd hd 4x4 and mine was doing the same thing. my rear breaks soon started making some noise. i compleatly redid my rear breaks (drums and shoes) the very next day the light stoped flashing and trany shifts great.

this happens to me also they say when the light starts flashing it means that the tranney fluid is getting to hot if u have a tranney guage u will see that the temp is above 250 degrees.. u are supposed to pull over and let the tranney cool down... to fix the problem they say to go and get a deeper tranney pan i have ordered mine it will hold three more 3 more quarts which will keep it alot cooler.... so they say i will see and let u guys know if it works if u want..
