i was thinking about puting throttle body spacers in my truck but didnt whant to spend the time puting them in,if they didnt make a diffence?are they easy to install i dont know?
I might have gained an iota of power, but definately not worth it! Plus, at certain rpm ranges (on mine at least), they gave off a definite whine from the air passing through it. Save your money and help offset that gas bill .
I bought a poweraid spacer plate for my 94 with a 302 engine. I have been very pleased with the mid range performance increase, as far as a gas mileage I haven't seen any improvement.
Hmmm, the theory is that the spacer plate creates a longer run between the ruber hose and the intake throats...well, unless your truck got wider and the air cleaner moved out further, you won't really get that air velocity the TB spacer people promise. The place where you want power increase is at the
low end torque range....and good throttle response. The end result, aluminum ports replacing rubber air hose. looks good, but you'd be better off wrapping the air hoses from air cleaner to TB to lower intake charge temps.
The purpose of the spacer plate isn't to create a longer run between the ruber hose and the intake throats, the airaid spacer with it's helix thread in the spacer causes incoming air to spin in a vortex pattern. The spinning action continues into the manifold runners and into the combustion chamber to help the air and fuel thoughly mix to create an improved combustion process.
Like I said before it works on my 302 in the mid range rpm's. My brother has installed one on his 1995 F150 with a 302 and received the same results. If you want one for increased gas mileage save your money.
