I have a 2008 F350, 6.4. I put in new batteries and a new alt. Batteries die in two days. Pulled all the fuses, one at a time. Radio bad-, also, #5 fuse draws.19 amps and #40 fuse pulls .20 amps. Any help would be appreciated.
A few days?...Sounds like a bad connection.if the alternator is putting out, a corroded connection would stop the battery from seeing any maintenance charge at all when running turn on your headlights...are they bright? or dull?
take a voltage reading at the battery..then start the truck take another voltage reading while running...it should be 13-14+ volts if its not..going backwards...bad connection , voltage regulator..alternator
load test the battery and hydrometer test on the cells...with one bad or weak cell...you can charge the battery till x-mas and it wont hold a charge
The batteries got replaced when I bought the truck last month. Then it sat for 3 weeks while I was away on business. When I returned the wife told me that the truck was dead. I charged the batteries overnight, then started the truck the next day and measured the voltage after allowing it to run for 30 min. The alt was not charging, only reading 12.2 volts after running 30 min. So I got a new alt. and changed it. Now after the 30 min it reads 13.8. Came out two days later and dead again. Did a drain check after recharging the batteries and found the radio has a short- it draws 2.8 amps with the truck off. Pulled the fuses for the radio and the draw dropped to .41, pulled the Cluster fuse (#40) and dropped to .19, Pulled the #5 fuse and draw went to 0.
Sorry, # 26 is the cluster, and #40 is the 4 x 4 module, satellite radio module, # 5 is keypad illumination,break-shift interlock
draws are - #5=0.19
#26 + #5 = 0.41
# 5 + # 26 _+ #40 = 0.51
I am sure .5 amps is way too much- should be around .05
