Hydra chip & Lie-ometer

Recently installed PHP Hydra chip. Just about flipped out when I looked at the mpg on the lie-ometer. It went from about 12 mpg in town before to around 19 in the Daily Driver mode. Is that possible?
Going out of town Saturday and will do an actual calc. I'd be ecstatic if it's real.

I concur with cleatus12r. Hand calculate your mileage... it's the only reliable way to KNOW what's going on.

So you knew it was called the Lie-ometer and you still asked if it was telling the truth?

I really wish that I could write tuning that would actually give a seven mile per gallon increase simply because I would be one of the richest people on the planet at that point.

Has anyone ever tried writing a tune that would cut some injectors out at highway speeds and low load conditions? Or would the lack of fuel cause a reduction in cylinder lubrication?

It's impossible to do with the hardware. Besides, have you ever driven one of these pickups with a bad valve cover harness? Running on fewer than eight cylinders does nothing more than max out the EGT and put your maximum speed at about 45 miles per hour. You will burn just as much fuel on 4 cylinders has you do on 8 to maintain the same road speed.... likely even more to overcome parasitic drag of the other cylinders.

I've got one cylinder which doesn't fire until the oil gets warm enough to let the poppet begin moving again, and it's no fun driving the few minutes until it gets to temperature... not horrible, but just not smooth at all.

Shoot! If you'd start selling your tunes, you'd probably get rich! I'm running a DP F6, but I'd buy a Hydra just to try your tuning.

At that point, I will no longer be an FTE member though.

As long as you give us a link or something to find you, we will be good..... 😀

(Not that you won't be sorely missed in this and the other boards of course!)

Oh and if you would please add me to the list?!
