driving lights

Interested to know what anyone has done here who has kept the factory front bumper bar but mounted driving lights. Im keen to upgrade the lighting setup on my truck but not so keen to put a bullbar on.

If you get the bumper with the air cutouts in it for a diesel, you can mount Hella 550 series lights in it. That gives a nice factory look.

You can also just mount them to the top or bottom of the bumper. I have mounted lights both ways, and had no complaints functionally or aesthetically. You can also get a valence meant for a lightning truck and it will have holes for lights, and will provide a factory look.

Like R&RFord, I've mounted lights directly to the bumper. I prefer the top aesthetically and to protect them against getting whacked by a snow bank.

Here's a pic of my F250 showing the fog lights on the bumper.

Are you looking for gutter rats with the angle of those?

They are wide angle fog lights, so even pointed out that far they still overlap in the center a fair amount. And they light up where you're going when turning as well. Plus they light up the ditches on country 2-lanes, so I see a lot more wildlife (mostly deer, but I've seem bear and bobcat as well).

Make sure you take advantage of what you have with a relay mod to run the headlights directly off the battery. It also helps if you wet sand and clean the old plastic lenses, and then protect them with a gloss clear. Both common mods that are cheap, easy, and bring a lot of benefits.

If you have the openings in the bumper definitely put some in there. It looks so much better then bolting them on top the bumper.

Agreed Fastback460, they definitely look good mounted in the bumper, unfortunately I dont have the cutouts and other bumpers are very scarce to non existent over here.

What is the relay mod you speak of Binkowski? sounds beneficial. Ive got glass lenses on my headlamps so all good there.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

We have our share of suicidal deer here in NC too, thankfully no bears here in the Piedmont.
I understand your angles since you are using true FOG lights, short and wide beams. I was just rattling your chain a bit . You do have that sweet bumper as noted elsewhere.
Auxiliary vs OEM, fog vs driving, clear vs amber, lighting is so different from each other that a lot of people just grab a set and hang them on with no particular goal except LIGHTS. YAY! Different design, different results.
BTW, I have a friend that had the twin to your 250, nice!

So wow, you have the AU sealed beam lights that so many here would kill for! You'll have to post photos! Those are sweet!

I've linked a good right up for the relay mod. I haven't done it myself, but it's on my list of things to do...

I believe Broncograveyard.com actually sells a plug and play relay kit for our trucks.
