Question 1966 f100 - Reverse lights

Did the '66 come with reverse lights? Or even a dash light for reverse? Has anyone added them and had them look good and work well?

1966 didn't come with them, not even as an option. But, the next year, 1967, they did have them. The taillight housings and bezels from 1967-1972 can be used in place of the 1964-1966 Styleside (right bed). Then you just need to figure out how to turn them on. The transmissions in the later years had a grounding switch on them to trigger the reverse lights. For the NP435 4-speed a person can just replace the top tower on the transmission to get the switch, as an example. Then you just have to work out the wiring itself.

I'm replacing the 3-speed shifter with one from Hurst. It doesn't have the reverse light switch but it does have a bracket and mount for one. Should be easy enough to wire it up if I decide to go that route.

I installed back up lights myself and ran the wires to the dash where I installed a push button switch. It is not as convenient as just throwing the shifter in reverse but it gets the job done.
