1966 didn't come with them, not even as an option. But, the next year, 1967, they did have them. The taillight housings and bezels from 1967-1972 can be used in place of the 1964-1966 Styleside (right bed). Then you just need to figure out how to turn them on. The transmissions in the later years had a grounding switch on them to trigger the reverse lights. For the NP435 4-speed a person can just replace the top tower on the transmission to get the switch, as an example. Then you just have to work out the wiring itself.
I'm replacing the 3-speed shifter with one from Hurst. It doesn't have the reverse light switch but it does have a bracket and mount for one. Should be easy enough to wire it up if I decide to go that route.
I installed back up lights myself and ran the wires to the dash where I installed a push button switch. It is not as convenient as just throwing the shifter in reverse but it gets the job done.
