Welfare Office

Some of you have probably heard this one before:

The Welfare Office
A man walked into the local welfare office,
marched straight up to the counter and said,
"Hi, I hate drawing welfare. I would really rather find a job."
The person behind the counter replied,
"Your timing is amazing. We just got a listing from a very wealthy
man who wants a chauffeur/bodyguard for his
nymphomaniac daughter. You'll have to drive around in a
big black Mercedes, and the suits, shirts, and ties
are provided. Because of the long hours of this job,
meals will also be provided and you will also be
required to escort the young lady on her overseas
holiday trips. The salary package starts at $200,000.00
a year with room for bonuses.
The man said, "You're Kidding me man!"
The clerk behind the counter said, "Yeah, well, you started it."

Hahahaha. Ahhh, that's a good one.
My sister-in-law is always telling me how stupid they treat her when she goes in for WIC. I can't exactly tell her, "Well, the kind of people that get WIC aren't smart enough to take care of themselves or just too lazy, so what do you expect?"
My mom raised three kids on her own working 3 different jobs to take care of us, and absolutely refused to go on welfare. So I don't have a whole lot of respect for someone who won't make the effort to take care of themselves and/or kids. We were able to go with her for one job (as a janitor) so we still saw just as much of her, and we NEVER went hungry or without the basics. WE used our imaginations to play instead of having mommy buy us every toy imaginable (my nephews have SO many toys that you could take 3/4 of them and they wouldn't have a clue it was missing). The funniest thing is that she is ALWAYS late with her car payment (her parents just caught her up. She was 2 months behind) and she tells my husband she's going to buy a 6 cd changer for it and wants him to install it. hahahaha. Hmmm, that cd changer will do her a lot of good when they take her car back. Huh??? SOme people!!!!!!!!!!

Well ya see their are many programs out there to help lower income familys, WIC being one of them. And no WIC is not Welfare. It is help for Women, Infants, and Children. Just because someone uses these services does not mean they are not smart enuf or are too lazy to get a job.
I do alot of work for the govt. All of which are jobs that help lower income familys. YES their are alot of deadbeats that do not deserve the service but their are MANY that do! From the sounds of things your sister-in-law is one of those that does not since they can not manage their money properly. I'm not standing up for those who use welfare, I belive it should have stricter guidlines on how it is accessable and used. But to look down on all that use gov't programs to help themselves is wrong.

Sorry. I didn't mean to come across as looking down on the lower income families. I just know that if you REALLY want to take care of yourself, no matter the circumstances, you can do it without assisstance. My sis-in-law does have a job, no child care expenses (her parents watch them), no housing expenses (she lives with her parents), and can barely keep her car payment (her only real expense) up because of the stupid way she spends money. Her kids have more toys than they know what to do with (she buys them something everytime she leaves the house) always buying cd's (the musical kind, not a cert. of deposit ) and dvd's, and clothes, and just general junk, then sits back and wonders why she can't support herself.
I fully support these government programs but I think they are so terribly abused and I do look down on those that take what they don't need. And if you aren't working your butt off to take care of you and yours then you don't need that assisstance, what you need is a kick in the butt. That is where my comment about being stupid or lazy comes in. And I think too many people that go on Welfare that do need it get too content letting someone else take care of themselves instead of using it to pick themselves back up.

Wait a minute, I thought that I started this thread with a joke!
How did it become a serious correspondence?
