SYNC 3 2.2 Update Finally released by Ford
Some truck owners have been able to download 2.2 officially from the Ford website, best thing to do is log is to your Owner Account and see if it's available.

Ford totally dropped the ball on this one.
It`s insane that people have to go through all of these steps for an upgrade that so far has only worked flawlessly for maybe 30-40% of people.
Seems like the people who are having the most trouble are people like me who have version 1.0 with factory NAV. I`ve been trying since this update was announced by Ford last month and I still can`t get it to work. Same annoying message when I insert the USB. " System failed/not enough space"
I bet i`ve tried at least 20 times with 2 brand new USB sticks, formatted both ways on my MAC and I still get the same message.
The latest info I read was that OTA update is possible but it might take at least a month and yes, the latest OTA update is even for people with version 1.0.

1. Download the sync 3 update from your ford owner account and unzip the files
2. Create a folder on your mac named syncmyride and drag all the sync my ride files to the created syncmyride folder . Take out the syncmyride part from each of the files. (See attached picture)
3. After the sync my ride files are in that folder drag it to your USB drive .
4. The other 2 files named Dontindx.msa and autoinstall.lst make sure that's also in your USB drive and not in the syncmyride folder. So you should have those 2 files and the folder in your USB drive .
5. Eject the USB drive and plug in. It should be error free.
Make sure you format to exfat prior to downloading the update. Ford told me this was another method for those getting that error message. I was also on 1.0 and went to 2.2. Apple car play works great. Let me know if this works for you.

Do you have Automatic Updates turned on?
Josh
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Yes, i`ve had "Automatic Updates" turned on since I purchased it and i`m happy to say that it finally updated on it`s own yesterday afternoon.
I was all set to try and tackle it again yesterday with a new USB stick but now i`ll just return it to the computer store.
If anyone else is wondering, my F150 is a 2016 and I had and was on version 1.0 before the OTA update and now it`s on 2.2
I hope this info helps other people who are still having problems with the update.
Forget the USB stick update route and just do it OTA.
When I go to the Sync site it says my truck is up to date. When I look at the sync history it lists version 2.0 installed Dec. 19, 2016 and indicates that it is current. When I do a WiFi check for updates it says my current version is up to date.
Maybe its trying to tell me to leave well enough alone?
