I bought a Precision WFK 2111 71 kit that does the beltline and window channel seals on my 72 250. https://www.prp.com/product/detail/104101
I have found a few threads and videos for bumps and dents doing part and other pieces, with some conflicting info.
Do I need to remove the glass from the door?
Should the channel seals be glued in or friction fit?
Any other special tips or ticks?
thanks
Yes the glass has to come out which is easy. I take the regulator out to lube or replace it. Once the vent window is out the glass comes out. The channel seals are a friction fit. The anti rattlers can be a challenge to get in right. Trim the rear edges to a point like the originals. This really helps. I get mine from Dennis carpenter and they need trimmed as well. Silicone spray lube helps.
As MPH said. After unbolting the window reg, I let the door glass drop inside the door and only removed the vent window. 2X on trimming the belt strip to a point. I don't have an order of install, I did one side different than the other and there were difficulties either way. That and someone had been drinking. The belt strip had a tar strip on it so keep it out of the sun while installing. After I had it all together, I used wood door shims and wedged between the glass and belt strip inside and out for a few days so the heat would loosen the tar and seal. Do not get the tar on the channel felt, if and when you do use wax and grease remover. It works pretty good.
