Replace Duraspark with MSD-6AL

My 1978 F250 has a 1984 351W and the Duraspark electronic ignition and stock distributor. I have a MSD 6AL that is just sitting on the shelf. Is this a straightforward swap? Do I need a different coil?

Thanks!

There are several ways to do it. You can keep everything you have, and let the original coil wire trigger the MSD box. You will keep your dist, duraspark II box too. Instead of the duraspark box triggering the coil, it will trigger the msd box. You can reuse your stock coil.

The other way is to buy one of their harnesses, and let the Ford duraspark distributor trigger the msd box directly without the ford duraspark II module.

The another way is to buy a MSD distributor for your Ford application, and install it and let it trigger the msd box.

Check their website, they have very good instructions there you can download.
