Interchanging Wheels?????

Well guys, I'm in need of help!! I want to run a minimum tire size of 26570R16. The current wheels I have look like they are really pinching down the tire. I was informed that I would need to purchase a 16x8 5x5.5 wheel. I was also informed that a dodge 1500 would interchange with the Ford rims, all I would need to do is ream out the center hub to fit mine. I've been involved in a whirlwind of comments and I need some info to make sure I'm on the right path.

The wheels are on a 59 f100 - I'm positive they aren't original.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I am running 265-70x17s on a 7.5" wheel, works fine.

What kind of wheel are you looking at? A stock steelie looking wheel or alloy?

Yes I'm looking to run just stock steelies for now. As I progress with the full rebuild I'll start gathering up the shiny chromers. I found some dodge wheels from the salvage yard for $25 each. Before I purchase I want to make sure they will fit my F100.

My 2003 Tire and Rim Association manual shows that a 265/70R16" tire has a "Design Rim Width" of 8" and is approved for use on rims having the 7J, 7K, 7L, 7.5J, 8J, 8L, and 8.5J rim widths and drop center profiles.

I would recommend that you look for a set of Accuride 50274 wheels. These are 16" x 7J, have a 5 x 5 1/2" pattern, and were OEM stock wheels on 2003 to 2006 E150 Ford vans. A yard search I'd think would find you a set. If not Wheels Now in WI has them in their catalog. Stu

Thanks for the info. I'll be hitting the salvage yards next week in my search. This is the last leg of the journey before finally driving the 59 again. Thanks again!
