Hey all, was looking to go with a wider tire and rim setup. My PSD is stock and 4 wheel drive. I know there is some conscern with load rating of certain wheels. I am very uneducated in this area but want to learn so i know what to look for. I know I need hubcentric wheels.
What companies make quality wheels for the superduty?
seems like everyone I talk to has no idea what will fit the superduty.
I hear Weld wheels are good, any others?
How big and how wide of a rim can I get on my truck?
If you have an 00' or newer then you have an 8 x 170 lug pattern. I would go with at least a 10" wide wheel but few people agree with me on that. The reason is that you need a wider wheel to fit a wider tire but again IMO. MOst companies make rims that will fit your truck and "MOSTLY" if they have the right lug pattern they will hold whatever load you have to stack on it. Follow?I run anerican eagles. Cheaper then Weld or Centerline, have all the sam estyles and just as strong.
If you are concerned about load ratings on an aftermarket wheel your best bet is to go to the manufacturers website. Most have the wheel load ratings for the different types offered for your application.
American Eagle and Mickey Thompson both make wheels with the same or higher ratings, only ones I really considered but I am sure there are plenty of others. The bling bling wheels and some non-traditional designs can really have low load ratings. Hope those aren't in your future!
You are close, the annoying 8x170 started on the '99 and up Super Duty models. Pre Super Duty eight lug is the old standard 8x6.5 that fits everything else out there with eight lugs.

Are you going wider and larger for LOOKS or for LOADS???
If its looks are what you're after, check on ALCOA.
If its LOADS you want, check out my RICKSONS. Wheels are rated at 4500 lbs. (although the axle is NOT). They are 19.5" diameter, and you can get different widths. Tire ratings are MUCH higher than you will find on any 16" wheel. You can look at my gallery or check www.ricksontruck.com
