Hi Guys ,I found a pretty decent F250 mfgd July 92.the man wanted 3850,but I got him to come down to 3350. the AC isn't working. It has the manual 5 speed I think.Someone comment on this truck for me. It is 5.8L EFI
thank oyu all for this GREAT site. Tony
You have a better vantage than we do here. I would say buy it, they are solid trucks with alot of low $ parts for upgrade. Plus you get solid axles front and rear.
Sounds like a good deal. These Fords from 87-97 have a low resale value, but IMO are the best trucks of this vintage. Easy to work on and parts to repair are cheap.
The 351 has 200hp/315ft/lbs of torque. Hopefully this particular truck is the 8600GVW "HD" version of the F-250. Then it would have heavier springs, Sterling rear axle, and ZF 5-speed.
On the AC, alot of times the "Cycle Switch" is what is to blame for the ac not working, seldom does the ac compressor go out for awhile. Turn the AC on, and see if the compressor pulley rotates. It should be the inner one that spins too.
If it doesn't go to a local discount auto parts place and have them test to see if the system has enough R12. Then replace the switch. You can replace it yourself, it won't release that much R12.
With proper maintence and care, these trucks will last 230k+ on original motor!
Sounds like a decent deal. I bought an 88 F-250 , 5.8, 4.10's and HD front end with a snow plow last summer for about the same money (mines a C-6 though). So you're getting a newer truck for similar money. But as with any used vehicle, condition and previous maintenance practices are EVERYTHING. good luck with your new ride.
Thanks guys ; I having ahard time turning my back to this one.ps I have really learned a lot on thie site!I was in wheel and tracked vehicle maint in US ARMY.:P :P :P
