7.3L PSD Dipstick Adapter Repair

Category: Accessories
Price: $75
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Location (State/Prov): WA
Item Condition: Brand New
Shipping Information: Item can be shipped
Engine: Part suitable for diesel truck

I've had a few people express some interest in the homemade dipstick adapter I made for my truck, so here it is for sale if anyone else is interested.

This will install similar to the Strictly Diesel adapter but without the O-rings. I used a felt gasket (included) with Permatex Ultra Black on both sides. You can choose to use or not use the gasket and just use Ford TA-31. Just make sure the pan is clean and smooth whatever you use.

And since this is using a compression fitting you will have to cut your dipstick tube to get a proper reading. I had to cut ~1-11/16", but each truck could be different. So the proper way would be to measure for yourself. Just make sure your oil level is full before starting. Then with the new adapter in place, loosely fit the dipstick and tube in the compression fitting and re-measure. The difference between the new level and full is how much you should cut off. Slight bending of the tube may also be required.

This has yet to be tried on a Super Duty, but the orientation notch is there and there is no reason it shouldn't fit.

I'm offering it painted Ford Grey or raw metal. If it's painted, I add a dab of weld to one of the bolts so that you cannot accidentally drop the backing plate in the pan. So if you want it in raw metal to paint any color you want, I suggest finding a way to weld, crimp, or otherwise deform one of the bolts to prevent accidentally dropping the backing plate.

If you would like to read more about this and see my install pictures, here is a link to my build thread. And no, you won't hurt my feelings if you just want to borrow my parts list and make your own.

Price is $75 shipped to the lower 48 (i.e. flat rate box).

This picture was taken before I cut my tube to length, as you can still see the o-ring crimps in it, but you get the idea.

Price dropped to $75 shipped. I only have two available; after that I don't know if I'll make any more.

Yes, the SD adapters are clocked forward. I have a notch for the SD, but it has not been fitted to one yet. It should fit fine but I have yet to find a "guinea pig".

Yes, I don't like to leave my email address in public forums (too many spam bots out there), but I can't PM you until you reach 25 posts. So here it is: [Deleted]

Please copy it and I'll delete it from this post. Thanks.
