need help with 5/16 inverted flare nut

I'm looking for a long 5/16 inverted flare nut for my transmission cooling lines. I need the long ones that go in the bottom of the radiator. I've been to every parts store in the area and no one has them. I've even tried radiator shops. The radiator I'm putting my 50 is out of a 1978 F 150.

buy a foot long length of pre-flared 5/16" line that comes with the nuts and take them from there. Every auto parts store has them.

why do you need the longer nut, is the seat that far into the radiator? The nut bottoms out before it tightens? You could make a small sleeve to go between the nut and the flare so that the sleeve pushes the line into the radiator while tightening the nut.

Yes I need the longer nut . It bottoms out before it tightens on the line. Something like a small sleeve might work. I was just hoping I could find the right nut. I'm going to try a few junk yard and see if I can find some old ones and just cut off the nut.

For a sleeve you may even be able to just use a small section of 3/8" steel line, maybe 1/4" long. Put the short nut on the line, the sleeve, and make the double flare. As long as the sleeve will slide into the port without hitting the threads it will work, and the sleeve could be cut and the diameter made smaller as needed.

Thanks if I can't find the right ones I'll give that a try Its just hard to believe they stopped making the longer nut in 5/16.

I've got one, is that all you need? My only concern is that it isn't threaded all the way, see pic. It's like it has the bushing Dave was talking about, built-in. It's about 3/4" under the head.
