Help decode f-500 Vin

Recently came into a f-500 fire water tender. Live in Pacific Northwest, Oregon with extreme summer fire conditions. It has a vin# F50CRK61787 Need to know year/engine?
Suddenly missing, fireing out exhaust, won't start. Suspect distributor/timeing chain. Any help in locating parts or rebuilt engines?
Thanks everyone.

F50 = F500.

C = 330 2V M/D FT engine.

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.

K61787 = 1971.

Even though the 330 M/D is considered a FT engine it is actually more akin to a FE. L:ike a 360/390. The M/D has a smaller crank snout than a 330 H/D,361,and 391. Has a Autolite 2100 2V carb rather than a Holley 2V with a governor. And the M/D has a regular size instead of the huge governor style Dizzy the 330 H/D,361,391 had.
I too suspect either timing chain and gears or the roll pin for the Dizzy's drive gear. Even though Ford shows different part numbers, the Dizzy and timing chain set from a 360/390 might work. The oil pump driveshaft between the Dizzy and oil pump is the same part number 330M/D,360,390. The 330 M/D had H.D truck style timing chain and gears from the factory. Where as the 360/390 had car type components. That may be the reason Ford lists different part numbers.
The Dizzy might be different part numbers because of how Ford wanted them curved for the 330 M/D.
So the timing chain set and Dizzy for a 390 "might" work on a 330M/D. You might go the FT forum here on FTE and ask those guys.

It prolly could use a tune up anyways so I would pull the plugs and the Dizzy cap. Stick a wooden dowel in #1 spark plug hole to touch the top of the piston. Then spin the engine by hand via the damper bolt until the timing mark is at TDC. Use the dowel to see if the piston is at TDC as it's supposed to be. Then move the crank back and forth watching how quick the rotor's movement reacts to you moving the crank.
