Ok so i still havent had time to get the rest of the parts for the MAF swap yet....mainly cause by the time i wake up the junk yards are closed but ive put almost 10,000 miles on the truck in the 2 months ive had it and last weekend i was creeping around the pasture and it started knocking....It kept knocking all the way back to the house but then that night i went to town and it wasnt knocking anymore......well next day it it started knocking again and then just quit knocking and hasnt knocked anymore since.......Never had one knock then quit....But im not gonna complain but i am fixing to have it rebuilt this weekend so that brings me to the next question....
Since its gonna be apart id like to do the GT40 head swap and wanna know exactly what years explorer will work and whether to get 3bar or 4bar heads and also if the gt40 valve train is worth keeping. Im hoping to get a pair of long tubes shortly after and will be running true duels with an H pipe and will exit in front of each rear tire

Well, that's a good start. There are OBDII MAF ECM's out there as well in the 104 pin package. That would have made things extremely difficult.
I think most of the changes include adding the MAF sensor wiring, deleting the MAP sensor wiring and replacing the bank fire injector wiring with the sequential injector wiring. There may be more and I am sure Conanski would be the expert here.
A couple resources you will need include EVTM's for both MAF and SD versions of your truck. The 5.0 MAF diagram will work just fine. There may be some online versions, but having the factory document on hand is always helpful.
Another great resource were the old RJM sites. Fortunately some archives still exist.
