gauges

since i have got my truck i have wondered if they where correct

what is a 7.3 idi turbo idle at? and is it possible that when im driving that it is not keeping up with the real rpms i dont know how a diesel rpm gauge works on a gas moter its hooked to the coil...

when you rev it should your oil pressure gauge move? mine does not budge and i know on my mustang when the revs go up so does the oil pressure and where abouts should it be sitting ?

the fuel gauge says there is a quarter tank left when its dead empty

thanx for any and all help!!

1. Around 750

2.The way I understand it after a certain year 7 pounds makes the guage register and that is all it does. Mine is older and registers the pressure but I have a mechanical too.
3. More than likely your pickup tube is broken off. (common) When it runs out of fuel how much does your tank hold.

how much does it hold when it runs out at a quarter. Could be your sending unit. Mine sometimes stays at a quarter and runs slam out, but it hold 18.5 gallons when it does, which means it was empty. Sometimes mine will go crazy at a quarter. A sending unit will replace the gauge and pickup tube, so that is probably the best bet on that deal. I have several of these trucks and the oil pressure gauge pretty much shows either a little over half when running or nothing. They never move with the engine revving that I've ever seen.

Well to tell the truth I never have watched the amount going in I just watched the kilometers I was getting per tank and I was getting about 400k per tank to the 1/4 mark and this is my small tank I have never used the large one because I was told it leaked and then my cross over pipe got super bad and up at the y pipe is blown apart so I'm getting like half the k per tank so now its hard to pay attention to how much fuel I'm using

And that makes me feel a bit better about my oil pressure thanx.

And as far as my tack goes I idle at maybe about 300 and it moves up and down from that point just a hair I'm wondering if that when I'm cruzing along at like 100k if I'm at 2500 or 3000 rpm
