i picked up a truck distributor with the tach drive for my '71 F600 with a pickup truck 390 in it and i'm curious as to where the oil line plumbs into the block. i'm wondering if perhaps it plumbs into the oil filter adapter and if so is there a specific filter adapter necessary?
Tack distrubutor oil line??? More like vacuum line. There are no oil lines anywhere near
a 390 FE. Most distrubutors with a tack also have a governor if so there now will be
3 vac. hoses. Only hose you need is the vac advance that goes to the carb to the
ported barb fitting...........
Bad news is if it's a FT tach drive distributor it has a larger oil pump drive and and won't if in a standard FE block without enlarging the pilot hole in the block and getting a special oil pump drive shaft.
The line that looks like a oil line is part of the governor system that limited rpm's on FT truck engines.
hmm... bummer. I just figured it was an oil line as it goes into the distributor directly above the mechanical tach drive, I just figured that it was a lube line for the tach drive...
