Door panel removal
I can get a set of door panels for free......I take them off. No sweat. Of course my panels most of the tabs are broken. A lot of ones I see for sale have broken ones also......so before I attempt this are there any tricks or special tools needed to take the door panels off of a '77?
Thanks, shortbox4x4
Most other chain parts stores carry them too. You can make one from a big ol flat tip. Torch heat and bend a 45 in it, grind a V in the end.
Or once you have the window crank, finger pull cup and inner door latch handle removed. Start on the bottom either corner, slip a flat tip in from the bottom in line with the tab. Put your hands/fingers on BOTH sides of the tab (behind the panel, unless you have monster gorilla size hands, lol) and your thumbs on the outside and carefully pull with steady easy pressure. Just do not go yanking on it, its a controlled pull, cause one it comes out, you need to STOP pulling.
If the door panel has the older metal tabs...or real new push pins...just go buy the tool.
You can also use a hack saw blade (with tape as a handle) and slip it behind the panel and just cut the push pins too.
If you have broken tabs you can graft replacement on it.
