At 1500, 4/14/17, officially became a retired guy, the second time.
1st time, 29 years at DTE as a powerplant operator.
This time, 11 years driving big trucks, the last 6 as a heavyhaul driver in northern Michigan and Ontario.
No more getting up at 0315, walking out in -30/-40 temps, 350 miles on ice/snow, being marooned on the wrong side of the Mackinac Bridge due to weather, and tourist season.
I will miss the job though, it was never boring, and the people down here and in Ontario I've met and worked with.
This was my last truck, parked it yesterday, with 435765 miles on it, for the last time. I picked that truck up brand new at the dealer a bit over 4 years ago. The trailer I got new, about a year ago. Made by Titan in Delhi Ontario custom made one of, specifically for what I did.
I have a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label waiting for me downstate at my wifes, a gift to myself.
Congrats brother! Enjoy your time with your bride.

Thanks guys! I'm excited to have the time to get caught up on my property projects, both pickups, car/truck shows, be a pretend tourist here in Michigan, and spend time with the wife. Feels funny knowing that Monday is all mine now.
