I have an E450 that I can't get to start. It was running fine but leaking oil into the coolant, so I pulled it into the drive and replaced the oil cooler and did an EGR delete. There is a thread about it in the 6.0 section here.
I've never been able to get it to start again. All the data seems good, good compression, and I've tried a bunch of stuff. Took it to the dealer, and he agreed that it seemed like it should run after trying a bunch of stuff (said he got it to run with ether). His next step was to check the fuel lines for obstruction, but that was a bunch of labor, so I brought it home and did that myself. No blockage. He next recommended that I check the MAP sensor and clean the mass airflow sensor, thinking that the computer wasn't telling the injectors to release fuel. No change.
Anyway, the truck is now in my driveway. Tries to start but never kicks off. I have to think that it is something minor - something I did wrong putting it back together since it ran fine before I tore it down. If I can't figure it out, I gotta tear it down again, not knowing what I'm looking for, and put it back together hoping that somehow I fixed whatever I did wrong. That's a lot of work on these vans.
It occurs to me that maybe some of my FTE buds might be up to the challenge. If I bought the beer and BBQ, and offered a $1000 reward if we get it to run, would anyone be up for a good time in Houston?
Houston. . That's a good minute from new braunfels, however sound interesting only thing Is I'm not the most savy with 6.0s but I'm trying to learn lol
Thanks, guys. I do still have the one stuck in Dallas as well. Rather than fix it, I used the money to buy another truck that I'm now selling. When I get that money, I'm fixing the Dallas truck, but that's the one that overheated and it could be a lot of work to fix, although I'd still throw a "diagnose" party up there if a few guys would show up to figure out just how much I've hosed that one. I'll prolly take it to a local shop for the work, but I hate going to a shop without knowing what I need done. It's worth paying for a good diagnosis first.
LOL, I do have another truck here in Houston now as well. A F250 Badlander that doesn't start - actually my son's. Need to diagnosis it as well, but I haven't even begun looking at it yet.
