Ill add upgrading the cold side boost tube. Either H&S or AFE make good ones. Or carry a spare stock one, easier to swap that the exhaust sensor imo.

I keep forgetting about that CAC tube Chad...

Ohh - and be careful doing fuel filter changes, the lower one's housing is easy to crack, crossthread, and over tigthen... Yep, there isn't one part of that change that has the potential for disaster.

I had no issues with my 2011 except turbo..at 99500 miles.....traded in for a 16 at 125k still no issues.. no sensors that went.. no radiators..etc. just A/C Evaporator... And I had put DEF into the fuel system 2 times... 1st time at 30k and 2nd time at 60k never drained the tank..just the filter drain and added lot's of Diesel Service to dilute the DEF.. still running strong at 125..

No mods.. seems to me anyone who mods the truck drives it hard will and does have issues.. I always added Power Service often... Always use the remote to start it and warm it up for 10 min or so.. here in Northern NH..
I work it .. towing, plowing, hauling a 4k lb camper in the bad across USA.. many times.. this is why I bought a 2016.. now with 60k on it still no issues at all..

I think everyone has gotten the biggest of issues. Some had a coolant line to the turbo leaks. So check the valley of the motor for evidence.

Also be aware of the oil requirements and different coolant requirements than you are used too.

Right now I am looking at a budget of no more then 35k. I was looking at the 05-07 6.0s because I work on my own vehicles and the price. But then I thought to myself do I really want to get into another diesel that is 10-12 yrs old as my DD. Or do I go newer.

The 6.4 is not an option. They make awesome power but I just don't want to role the dice and run the risk. If it was going to be a toy/weekend driver then it might be a different story. I have researched the 6.0, 6.4, and the 6.7 PS. I believe that the 6.7 has definitely proved its reliability. Ford definitely hit that one out of the park.

So I want to make sure that I am straight on the known issues of the 6.7. From what I have read here and on other forums. Before I decide where to put my focus at.

2011-
Plastic oil pans (Not necessarily an issue just something to consider).
Turbos coming apart due to ceramic bearings around 100-150k
Sensors on the exhaust/dpf going out. (Carry a spare)
Glow plug tips breaking off causing catastrophic engine failure.(TSB covers this).

2012-
Turbos coming apart due to ceramic bearings around 100-150k
Sensors on the exhaust/dpf going out. (Carry a spare)

2013-
Ford addressed the turbo issue with steel bearings but still some turbo problems.(Some say that the turbo is to small for the 6.7)
Sensors on the exhaust/dpf going out. (Carry a spare)

2014-
Turbo issues
Sensors on the exhaust/dpf going out. (Carry a spare)

2015-
Upgraded turbo(I haven't heard any real issues)
Sensors on the exhaust/dpf going out. (Carry a spare)

Of course on all of them water in the fuel causing replacement of the fuel system. But common on all years and manufacturers with Common Rail engines.

I didn't mention the 16s or 17s because they are not in my budget I have set for my self. Have I missed any "Common Issues" with the 6.7? I'm looking at trucks that are under a 150k miles. Now I have to decide if I want to get a 11-12 lariat/kr with 120-140k or do I look at 14-15s most likely XLs with well under 100k.

Thanks for the help.
I have a 2011 Ford f350 cab chasie. Motor locked up with 44,585 on the motor which I have seen others with the same problems. Ford does not want to warrant the repairs because it is 8 years old. This truck has always been serviced correctly.

As frustrating as that is when this expensive equipment fails far too early, warranties have an end date. This is the same for GM, Fiat, Honda, etc. especially at eight years.

I'd try for 2015+. Newer Turbo and different fuel pump - it's still a weak link, just not as weak a link. 2011s, especially cab and chassis trucks had weak valves too. As you find many people with a 2011 that met an early demise you will find others with 200k+ miles on them without any issues.

One thing they also seem to have is the CAC tube like to grenade. So there are after market stronger replacements. The other weak link in some trucks are radiators.

I don't keep trucks that long, my longest is my current 2015 F350 with 55k miles on it - but I will say it's been the best truck I've ever owned and that says a lot as I have owned a lot of trucks. Not only Fords, but GMs and Rams too.
