Sending unit senses temperature and engine displacement determine acceptable temperature range? I use the same sending unit for the 65 w/ 1970 302 as the 64 390? The temp did not vary in swapping from cast iron to Edlebrook performer intake.
MotorCraft offer's 1 (one) temperature sensor that covers just about every Ford engine displacement from the date the engine was manufactured to current application. IMO, one needs to confirm thread count and that the wire connector is same for their application. If uncertain, a dealership, or Ford parts distributor would be able to confirm, my experience with local part stores, unless one does the research, counter person does not have a clue?
I purchased the SW-925 as mentioned from ND. I am not saying it isn't heating properly or getting to the correct temp, I only ran the truck for a short time and took my temp gun to the sensor and the gauge should have read at or around 160. I do realize it is not going to be perfect, right on, but if it functions properly, I could tell if the temp is going up.
With the way it is working it would seem like a grounding issue? IS there any type of relay under the dash? A voltage type relay that may not allow it to work properly?
I am going to get a temp sender for a 292 that was in the truck for the gauge that is in the truck and see what it does. Maybe it has to do with the ohms it is sending to the gauge.?
Thanks all!
