i got a zf5 and solid flywheel swapped into my 6.9 truck and it doesnt make much noise in neutral, but at low speed in first or second it is incredibly loud.. and like others have said, the OD makes it very worth it. In my truck with 3.55 rear and stock tires i would be turning ~2200 rpm at 55 which sucks with an engine limited to 3200rpm. now with the OD i cruise at ~1500 rpm at 55
To expand on Specer's post, with my '86 6.9 turbo with 3.55:1 gears I'm seeing an over 3 MPG improvement in mostly around town driving after going from C6 to ZF5.
I'm not at all surprised. The C6 is a serious power-hog, and with the lack of OD on top of the lack of a lockup torque converter the MPG with one of them really hurts.
Well in my case, the interior "white" silicon boot is just about the same dimension as the tunnel hole, Soooo, to make it a water tight seal, and had to "close up" the tunnel opening so the screws had something to bite into, another thing is the mounting screws with the boot. There is one in each corner, they have to go through, (from top to bottom) 1, black plastic collar, 2. Carpet. 3. black rubber boot, and 3 the silicone boot.
Now, you'll want to seal the silicone boot to the tunnel for water seal. Now trying to align all the other stuff into holes in the tunnel was a "challenge"
