A little venting.....
A snow plow obviously will affect the sensor, and nobody should be using ACC when plowing anyway. But nothing is harmed by blocking the sensor.
No dealer in the world should have charged you for that. Especially if they claim it was the FD tag, how about a little courtesy? Fix whatever the small problem was, inform the customer of any issues with the tag (or snowplow)...and tell them you took care of it this time but next time it will be on them.
No problem...then everyone leaves happy.
I run in to this kind of scenario all the time customers call me that we just did a new install of a furnace and we explain to them about the possibility of snow blocking the intake vents before we leave the house. During the 1st major snow storm of the year we get lots of no heat calls i tell them check your vents outside new and old customers alike if they call back and say there clear we go out on the call i will bring the customer outside and show them that in fact the vents are still plugged.
Now for the customer that just spent $5000.00 on a new furnace with me i don't charge them and tell them this one's free but not the next time. For the customer that just spent $5000.00 on a new furnace with my competition and call me because they can't get a hold of them at 1am in the morning well there getting a bill and it's 1hr service call out at double time (after hours call out) so that's $80.00 x2 $160.00 sometimes there not happy but for the most part there ok with it and say for the service that they get with my company we should have bought the furnace from you.
