once again EGT sensor failure. the last sensor past the dpf shuts the engine down. Ford will not warrenty this part no 12B591. Anybody shead some light on this. thanks , unhappy 6.4 owner.
It is already repaired . The dealer will not warrenty the exhaust temperature sensor. The vehicle is a 2008 F550 55,125 miles, well under the 5yr 100,000 mile Engine/emiisions warrenty. This sensor works directly with the ECM and controls emissions regen. The dealer says the part # is rejected in there system.
the Ford 1 800 # is a bigger joke , they say to call the dealer service manager. The dealers hands are tied, its Fords dumb *** warrenty. Do you know any higher up customer service?
Split this off so as to not drag the other thread too far off topic!

thats what it is. sorry.
This doesn't make any sense to me.

This is a contract, and one I'm pretty confident they can't just change after the product is sold.
Can someone explain this to me? Am I missing something?
this simple and you are over thinking it. not tring to sound rude at all sorry if I am.
an Electronic Engine Control Sensors and Switches would be engine mounted.... think things like egrt sensors, egr valve ,frp and the like. basicly all the sensor pre turbo outlet.
Catalytic Converter (including
Diesel Particulate Filter and
Diesel Oxidation Catalyst)
a sensor is not listed here at all.
ford changed the part number to end the confusion and stop dealers from warranting incorrect parts.
the egt sensors used to have the same part number as the egrt and that is how the dealers were getting them covered at one time.

Thanks for the explanation!
Doesn't make sense to me though. When that sensor can shut the engine down in order to protect an emissions component I'm not understanding how it wouldn't be part of this warranty.
But you know how this is done far more than I. I'd just like to know why that's not covered and everything else is.
your logic is not flawed at all I do understand the confusion. Its hard on us that live it every day tring to figure out what some bean counter was thinking.
The egt does not effect fuel delivery are exhaust flow. its there to limit or reduce melt downs.
