Wrong Date On Vin Number Plate
has any one ever heard of a ford truck having the wrong date on the vin tag. all of the vin number are the same in the dash and door but it is a 1989 truck and the tag has 01 on it. i have never seen this. have you?

dford .. as I recall, there is a letter of the alphabet in these years, including 1989, within the VIN which corresponds to the year of production. I have an '89 XLT Lariat, and I think it might be a K.
Don't have my books handy, bit I think its in the 10th position.
Exactly what/where is this tag with 01 on it.

THE 10 LETTER IS A K. THE O1 IS ON THE VIN TAG INSIDE THE CAB WHERE THE DOOR CLOSES. IT HAD DATE 01 AND THE VIN AND OTHER INFORMATION. BOTH VIN TAGS HAVE THE SAME NUMBER, THE ONE IN THE DASH AND THIS ONE. THE TITLE HAS 1989 AND WE KNOW IT IS A 89 BUT THE DATE ON THIS TAG HAS DATE AND UNDER IT HAS 01. THANK FOR YOUR HELP.

On my door pillar is the vehicle certificate - probably what you are looking at. Upper left corner has Date, and to the LEFT of that is stamped 03/89.
Make sure you are not reading the wrong line... and if you're Ok then I'm not sure what the 01 is. Anyway, you have a 1989.
