All: Heater valve control cable #18518 on the diagram shows a "foam rubber" collar at the location where it goes thru the firewall.
Mine is missing and there is no separate p/n for the collar.
Has anyone any ideas on what to use to seal/cushion the cable where it goes thru the firewall? And if so what are the dimensions?
Thanks in advance. Jeff
PS I have a '66 F250 with the "deluxe heater"
Some of the parts places sell rubber grommets to plug holes in the firewalls and other places. You could buy one to plug the hole and then drill a hole through it for the cable.
Thanks John. The exploded view diagram shows a foam rubber collar, so I would like to look for that option first.
I do have rubber grommets, and could use your suggestion, but want to try to get as original as I can before using this option.
Jeff
Like you say, it is part of C5TZ-18518-A so there is no separate part number for the foam piece.
NOS Parts Source shows 1 cable - I have not checked if it has the foam piece or not, but they want $150 for the cable shipped ($140 plus $10 for shipping).
Bob Allen also has one cable showing in stock. I've never called them to inquire about a price for theirs.

NOS Parts Source shows 1 cable (no longer listed).
Bob Allen also has one cable showing in stock (website on PV last updated2/04/2016).
NOS PARTS SOURCE in Olathe KS has 1 = 913-220-5746 (PV).
RED TAYLOR FORD in Corning AR has 2 = 870-857-3518 (D2D).
Allen lists parts on three websites: PartsVoice.com, rearcounter.com and the D2D (Ford dealer parts locator). Only PV shows the cable, so it's probably gone.
Short of buying a complete cable - if all you need is the foam piece - I'd be happy to take some measurements of it for you if it would help at all. Seems like a fairly simple item.
Chad: Yes measurements would be very helpful, OD, ID, Length, if possible.
I can locate stock that will allow me to cut-to-size a replacement.
Thx. Jeff
If you make one maybe you can do a few others for no additional cost if they only sell the stuff in longer lengths.
A subtle detail on this one is it has a ridge on opposing sides. You can see the one ridge in this photo and there is another ridge on the lower side not seen from this angle. Just something about the mold they used probably.
Were does it come through firewall At ? I cant seem to find where hole is on my 66 F250? The cable was just wrapped up under dash, but had a valve in heater hose?
Wow, you signed up 12 years ago and this is your first post? I'd say welcome aboard, but you should be saying that to me....lol.
Quick question and I'll grab you a picture of that if someone else doesn't beat me to it. Is your F250 a 2WD truck? I could take a pic of the 4WD - it's in essentially the same spot - but to make it specific to your situation.
I'd probably take one of the 2WD since it was the most common, but either way.
Opening is just below the cowl lip - to the left of the wiper motor mounting area and to the right of the raised area for the heater plenum, as seen from the engine compartment side. This is my 2WD truck.
