Need help getting engine to run
#17
Did you figure the problem out?
I just had a similar issue and it turned out to be a faulty condensor(had less than 2k on it)truck cranked and really wanted to go, it just wouldn't.
How have you checked your spark? I've found the best way is to hold it 1/4 away from a ground and see if it jumps. If it dosent you need to check out your ignition coil. Just disconnect the cable from the dizzy cap(make sure it's plugged into the coil tower) and see if it jumps....If it's not your coil then my money's on your points and condensor.
This may seem obvious but it do sent hurt to ask. Have you checked your gap on the points?
Also, check to see if you have any slack in your timing chain. Turn the engine manually down at the crankshaft pulley and look at your rotor in the dizzy. If the rotor dosent turn immidately when you Turn the engine then it might be time for a new timing chain :/
