On my 99 expy, the rear passanger door (behind the driver) has a strip of rubber that has become damaged from the door closing on it. If you open the door, ( rear passanger, behind driver) this piece is on the inside of the black plastic molding ( left front of door) that holds in the window. I believe it is used to insulate road noise.
Anyway, how do you remove this piece? I don't see any screws.
I have a similar problem on mine. The strip seems to have folded over on itself on the top and bottom. Now it rubs on the pillar between the front and read door. It also leaves a black mark.
It appears the piece is connected to the outside trim. Anyway to replace it?
Run the window down. Push up on the moulding trim at the bottom of the window, it will pop out. Pull the glass seal away from the door from the top left corner of the door. This will expose the rivits that are holding the damaged part on. The new part comes with new rivets and sells for $70.
or you could just grab a pair of vice grips and pull the rubber peice straight up. It will slide out easily. This peice has absolutely no function except for hiding the body color in between the doors. I pulled mine out and have no problems. If you're really **** about the color of the truck showing through the crack in between the doors, you can get some satin black spray paint and mask that area with the doors open then spray it black. If you do this, just make sure you do both sides..... if it bothers you enough to paint it, then it will drive you nuts with one side painted and one side not! Mine has been out for over a year and there is no wind noise whatsoever. I hope this helps!
