Coolant temp and EOT

Gentlemen,

I was noticing that there is about a 20-30 degree difference between my Coolant temp and EOT. Is that normal? Im running sct x4 performance tune.

Sounds like it's time to replace oil cooler..... but let's see how you checked those temps? Running about 60-65 after a full warm-up - NOT using the tuner ! On a pretty level road for a mile or so..... What are you using to read the temps? Is EGR valve still installed? Is it wet? Do you have studs?

I see it says in your profile that you have a 1999 F350???? This IS the 6.0 forum, not the 7.3.

And what are the temps? And what are they after it sits all night, first thing in the morning before you start it up?

Had the dealer do a coolant flush before monitoring.

More to the story. I'm embarrassed to say that a couple of weeks ago I was upgrading the battery cables. So to get the extra ground wire to the block I removed the intake and disconnect the small hose the comes off the dega bottle. To bolt the extra ground I also removed the bigger hose connected to the wate pump, I think it's the water pump. Any way I spilled some coolant but replaced everything after and filled up the dega bottle. Yesterday I was In bad traffic and my truck overheated. I pulled over right away and popped the hood that's when I noticed the I forgot to reconnect the small hose that goes to the dega bottle I know I'm an idiot. Anyway I put 4 gal of coolant just to get me home and then had it flushed this morning. I say all this because I'm wondering if I damaged anything when it over heated? The coolant was marked for any vehicle and it was diluted. Your thoughts?

Did you have that 192 ECT and 239 EOT type of temps prior to the over heat condition?

Well... the any vehicle coolant likely contaminated your cooling system so you probably want to flush and use cat ec-1 coolant. (not clear if you re-filled with the any vehicle coolant)

Also, depending on what the dealer used to flush the cooling system, they likely freed up a bunch of stuff and clogged the oil cooler.

To check for damage pull the oil filter and check the stand pipe (thing in the middle of the filter) and see if it's still there. if it melted then you need a new engine.

I was just getting the 20 -30 degree difference. The 192 ECT 239 EOT is the biggest difference so far

So after the flush your temps are still 20-30*?

If so you need to plan on replacing the oil cooler
