Oh man...that's frustrating. At least it happened before they sprayed the truck, that would be one more thing that would have to be redone to make it right again. Stuff happens, glad to hear everyone was okay.
Thanks, yeah definitely going to take diminished value into consideration. Yes it was at 7AM and the officer told me he was supposedly heading to work. I just hope his insurance is good.
If not, you're uninsured motorist coverage will take care of you. Your insurance company's attorneys will go after him personally to recover their losses.
This is a real shame. It's always the new truck. The drunks never hit a beater, AND, never seem to get hurt in the accidents. This must be why airline pilots get drunk. They figure they'll survive a crash.
A student of mine was heading to the clinic to work one morning about 7:15 when he was tagged in the rear by a drunk doing 65+ My student was in a Dodge diesel from a while back that some folks really long after (don't know much about those trucks or years). He had actually just bought it the week before after looking for over a year. Anyway, the collision pushed him across two lanes of traffic, though a median, and into the lane of the parallel freeway, but he walked from it (totaled the truck).
Moral of the story is that these big trucks sure know how to take a lick and protect the passengers. Glad you came out if it with such minor damage and without a scratch. I can't tolerate a drunk driver.
Glad your ok.This brings back memories from when I bought my 07 brand new and just a month old I got rear ended at a stop light. The hitch did all the damage to the car and my truck was fine. The kick in the pants for me is my Carfaxes show I was in a accident and rear ended but the truck had no damage!I've been looking at 17's and the dealers are beating me up on trade cause their saying the truck has been wrecked .
Exactly why diminished value claims are so relevant.
Been there done that, some idiot rear ended my 3 day new Ford Explorer. Cop said this looks pretty new, I said yeah its 3 days old, he gave the moron a fist full of tickets.
I agree with the (where legal) leave your ball hitch in as it does a lot of good...I once had a Tahoe that a Honda civic hit in the rear hitch in stop and go traffic and I'm pretty sure it totaled her vehicle and after I stopped to see she was ok, I was cleared to leave as there was no damage to my Tahoe...
