Wednesday night, I went back to Wichita for thanksgiving. Thursday, I came home. Well, it was dark and I was a little ways past El Dorado and there were a vehicles pulled over on the side of the road with hazards on. So, being the courteous driver that I am, I moved over into the other lane. I was watching the vehicles to make sure that no one walked out into the road as I passed, and when I looked forward again, I say what appeared to be a large white trash bag in the middle of the road, I had enough time to think, "Don't hit it with your tires." I managed to take it under the middle of my truck, and when I hit it, it raised the front of my truck up. I looked in the rear view to see what hapened, and I saw what looked like a bunch of packing peanuts fly up from the road. I pulled over to check out my truck, and found blood and hair all over the bottom of my truck. I was going to back up and ask the people there what I had hit, but something about the size of a U-Haul parked between me and the other vehicle. I still don't know what it was that I hit, I can only hope that it wasn't someones family pet or something like that.
On another note, I know the car washes in Lawrence aren't that great, but the "works" package at the Zarco 66 on 23rd does a pretty good job. I had stuff covering the bottom of my truck and it got most of it off, along with the stuff on my tailgate from the same incident. Not bad for 8 bucks and not having to get out of my truck.
That was strange! Never know about whats out there and where to look. Hope it wasn't live. People will pull over and distract you then looking back there is something else there. The other night we were on the turnpike and I saw a cop car up ahead with its lights on so I pulled to the left hand lane to give him room and almost ran over the cop. He was about 400 yards from his car and was walking on the left side of the highway. All he had was a little flashlight and not one with the red cone so I almost didn't see him till it was to late.
The runner for MHF was heading north on the turnpike taking some titles to Topeka, He always leaves real early in the morning so he will get there when they open so it was dark, he was just cruising along...then WHAM he nails a car that apparently flipped over and was sitting in the middle of the highway, luckily he didnt get hurt or anything, strange part was the driver of the other car was nowhere to be found?
maybe someone hit a deer, then stopped and covered it with a white trash bag or ?
the color of the hair should tell you something.
It was grayish brown. I have no idea what it could come from that would look white, but if anyone is interested, I could get some off of the bottom of my truck and send it to you.
That's scary if you hit something and don't know what it was. Hope it wasn't Santy Claus. You know, The white bag, packing peanuts, hair etc. Lots of kids will be disappointed this year. Actually, that's real frightening. My wife about hit a guy walking on the interstate at night once. Not on the shoulder, but in the traffic lane. She saw him and missed him at the last second.
