Was going through the American Ford website I noticed quite a few differences when building trucks (platinum level) compared to the Canadian Ford site.
- White Platinum is 40% more expensive in the US
- Alternator choices don't exist in Canada
- Bed mats are not an option in Canada
- Cross bed storage is not available in the US
- Block heater is standard in Canada
- Backup alarm is not available in Canada
- 3.55 Electronic locking axle is standard in Canada
I'm sure there is more but those stood out to me. You would think some of those would be the same.
It is probably due to a combination of environment and market research factors. We even have some differences between states here in the US. In the colder northern states, we don't have alternator choices either. All diesels come with the rapid heat supplemental heater and dual extra HD alternators as standard.
I got power running boards on a lariat ultimate which apparently you all can't get down south. The alternators is due to the supliemental heater.
Plat white is $595 USD and $550 CAD. I am assuming your taking conversion rate into account on the 40%?
Yes I was taking into account the conversion. I would have ordered the bed mat and skid plates (without the FX4) for sure if they were available up here. I'll probably order a mat at a WA dealer and pick it up down there.
Canadian trucks can get the LED lights as a stand alone option on Lariat trim trucks where as US trucks must order the Lariat Ultimate package (which requires crew cab and the panoramic roof) to get the LED's.
Also, Canadian trucks can order 20" rims on XLT trim level trucks. US trucks must be Lariat or up to get 20's.
Only in the winter months. Come spring & summer it's daylight at my place until 11:30pm. Hard to get the kids to bed! Then its fully daylight by 4am again.
Canadian F350s also have more horse power and torque. That is why they will not warranty work on USA bought Fords.
Stands to reason that some accessories are not marked up to the difference in the dollar. Just a flat fee no matter what. Target came to Canada and wanted Canadians to pay more for items simply because they used USA based pricing format and failed. Or that is what I thought was the case.

I know I was just teasing. My parents never would have gotten me inside when I was a kid. I was an "outside till dark" kid.

I believe you can buy the skid pates and they aren't that much.

Yes, someone pointed that out to me. I honestly don't know how I missed that when ordering. I would have ordered them and the heavy duty front end (to raise the front end). Oh well, I'm sure I will still love my Platy when she gets here!
