1948-1956 ford tool

I found this old FoMoCo sprayer in a junk yard and can't seem to find out much about it. I was able to find it in a 1948-1956 ford catalog. Does anyone know what this sprayer was used for or any other info on it. Thanks

That's pretty interesting. What's the number on it?
I'm gonna bump this thread over to the '48-56 guys, somebody there I'm sure knows.

That's something I would have never thought of. I've never seen one of these anywhere before and was at a loss for what they were used for. Thanks to everyone for your replys. Hope to talk to many of you as I work on my 55 f1,78 f250 4x4,and my 48 coupe. Thanks again for the great welcome to this group of great people.
