Nutz and boltz

Ok I just want a quick survey....I'm getting ready to assemble my 49 f-4..... do I use stainless hardware or the grade 8 "gold" stuff..??....... I can buy it by the pound out here in farm country so I'm not worried about the price

I think I just used grade 5 by the pound when I put mine back together, but that was 16 years ago....

I would not use stainless unless you want the polished stainless look. Stainless fasteners have to have anti-sieze compound applied or they can not be removed without breaking the bolt.

Most stainless steel fasteners are softer. Make sure that you use anti-seize lubricant on every SS bolt. If the gall and seize you have to cut them off. https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-i...d-galling.aspx
